Mountain Institute for Education and Development Empowering People for Social Development
Established in 2003, Mountain Institute for Education & Development (MIED) Pakistan is a non-for-profit national NGO, registered with Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as a company under section 42 of the companies’ ordinance 1984. Since its inception, MIED has been working in partnership with and financial support from international donors, various INGOs and UN organizations on capacity building, institutional development, resource mobilization and empowerment of local communities in remote & conflict affected districts of Pakistan. These included Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Chitral, Mardan and Peshawar in KPK, Quetta and Pishin in Baluchistan, Chakwal and Mianwali in Punjab, Ghizer in Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad in AJK and Karachi in Sindh. MIED has reached out 258407 beneficiaries in 15 districts of all four provinces of Pakistan, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan region through our Multi-sectoral Development programs and capacity building initiatives for access to quality education by implementing MIED’s model of School Improvement Programs (SIP), Early Childhood Care and Development Program (ECCDP) and Non-Formal Education Program (NFEP). MIED’s institutional development initiatives targeted 17020 community through various community led institutions including COs, VOs, LSOs, PTCs. Village Education Committees (VECs), SMCs and School Councils (SCs) in the districts we have worked. Moreover our funding partner organizations have also utilized MIED’s competencies in building the capacity of other IPs when we demonstrated better quality technical capacity in educational and institutional development programs.
The organisational structure of MIED is as follows:
MIED has as per its bylaws 5 to 7 members in its board of directors. These members are replaced in 3 to 6 years time.
